After a personal request from Donald Trump, Rush Hour 4 is officially in production at Paramount.
According to a report from People, the new installment of the franchise starring Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker was approved after the U.S. president personally intervened with studio executives.
According to some media outlets, Paramount is reviving the action-comedy franchise with Brett Ratner, director of the original film.

Ratner, 56, was accused by several women of misconduct in 2017 and was subsequently banned from Hollywood.
The filmmaker, who directed the 1998 Rush Hour and its 2001 and 2007 sequels, has ties to Trump. In October, it was announced that Ratner would return to directing to develop a documentary about First Lady Melania Trump.
The film’s cast has not yet been finalized. Tucker, 54, last appeared on screen in Air (2023). After roles in films such as The Shadow’s Edge and Karate Kid: Legends, both released this year, Chan will star in the Chinese productions Panda Plan 2 and Guo Jia Jia.
